A lot of Americans are being pretty dismissive about this story and saying that Ryan did nothing wrong, but my friend who is in Brazil says that many think that Ryan was caught with a sex worker and then to cover it up he lied about being robbed. He has a girlfriend who is staying in another hotel.

For real, most stories of tourists being robbed at gunpoint in Rio involve people trying to buy drugs and/or hiring hookers.

A thousand bucks says they were robbed while trying to buy blow.

OR, all three got robbed at a whorehouse and made up the whole taxi/police thing to hide that they were having sex with whores in the whorehouse.
