Eventually you just tune it out. Which makes the purpose questionable in the first place, but at least it stops being annoying.

The 75 mile figure is for a specific real world task (collecting garbage), which implies that it starts empty and ends with a full load. 75 miles is more than enough for that kind of task. I can’t find a single source saying that the 250 mile figure that Daimler boasts is referring to a fully loaded truck. I’m gonna

Look, kid - we can’t ALL grow up to be long-haul trash collectors, making those lonely pickups between Alliance and Grand Island on Nebraska’s desolate State Highway 2.  Some of us just have to haul refuse on The Intra-City Run...

Yeah, most of these trucks don’t leave the city. That’s what they’re for.

This whole plan will probably end with the department of transportation having their own police force down the road, like local CHIPS or something gaining absolutely nothing except another police force with added layers of red tape, redundancy and inefficiency. But before that stage is reached there sure will be loads

I agree that it’s a horrible idea; not for the drug angle - although I’m sure that police catches some drug runners during traffic stops - but rather because traffic stops are Somewhat dangerous. In 2019 six cops where killed in a traffic stop, I do not know the number injured or assaulted but assume that it’s much

“I’ve not personally had a bad interaction with the police” is not a good justification.

This is a HORRIBLE idea. If these “employees” do not proactively do some serious policing there will be hordes more criminals”

“How about people stop breaking the freaking law”

There was an EV racing in 24 Hours of Lemons that got to exploit this recently, because there was an hour on a Sunday when the racers had to stop as to not disturb the adjacent church, but they let the EV continue racing as it didn’t make engine/exhaust noises to disturb the churchgoers.

One of the things I love about rally is the sound, but I am super excited to see how this plays out. You can dramatically lower the CG, have ridiculous torque at low RPM, and to your point the battery pack doesn’t need to be enormous.

Have this then. Drives much better, better fuel economy, better performance, (at least) same practicality:

People really do overestimate how much capability is required to do the stuff that they think they need an SUV for. Truth is, the majority of cars are grossly overspecified for most use cases. See also people who think it’s impossible to merge onto a highway with less than 250 hp.

That’s....not how this works at all. The First amendment protects the people from the government, not one corporation from another. Furthermore, for freedom of speech to work there also has to be a freedom of association. In other words, while you are free to spew whatever nonsense you want, everybody else is free to

I feel like I’m missing something here. How is Honda pulling its ads from Facebook banning speech? And silence counts as speech too. Ask anyone who has been in a long term relationship.

I didn’t realize that private companies were actually the U.S. government. The more you know!

I don’t get how people can’t see that this is exactly the same as ‘No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service’. Unless a business is kicking you out for your race, sex, a disability or some other protected status they have the right to kick your ass out for any reason they dream up. ‘Not wanting to wear a mask’ isn’t a damn

It’s a goddamn mask, not a diving helmet. Wear the mask or gtfo.

The funny thing is that when you abandon reason, the results rarely work out the way you want.
