Oops, I think I overestimated how far I was, still trying to get into BlackLake District. I do have Storm of Zehir and have been working my way toward Hellfire Warlock, should have it in a level or two. And yeah, my reason for playing the campaign first instead of just hopping into Mask was that I like getting…
As much as I agree, one is a niche adventure game from a completely different label and one is now one of the backbones of their enterprises, which they obviously care for the image much more.
Having finally completed the masterpiece Planescape I got myself on a bit of a Black Isle/Obsidian kick and am trying to fill the gaps in my knowledge regarding their work. Currently in Act II of Neverwinter Nights 2, which is bland but I'll trudge through it because I hear Mask of the Betrayer is much better. Went…
In fairness to Capcom, who do these shitty rereleases all the time, Ultimate was released $40, not $60. Also, the rushed nature of Ultimate was do to their license with Marvel running out and that is also the reason for no future DLC. And since Disney is playing really close to the chest with their Marvel properties…
For me it's either between Dark Souls 2 and Divinity: Original Sin. Honorable mention for Drakengard 3, a game I won't soon forget.
When's Mahvel?
I'll never understand how this game didn't come out in America. The people who get the satire would love it and most other people wouldn't know about it because it was from a C-Tier development team (At the time) and probably wouldn't have gotten any marketing.
One of the things that surprised me most about this game was how good the dialogue and cutscenes were for an MMO. You always kind of wished the game were more focused and single player with tighter combat mechanics, but as someone who never left Kingstown the game left a huge impression on me in a positive way.
Evolve is exactly the kind of MP I always wanted. My only concern (besides the problematic matchmaking) is that the game will be too unbalanced. Multiple people versus one has always been a balance nightmare and you can't swing too far one way or the other.
The best Nintendo conference in years and their highest body count likely ever?
You just asked for exclusives coming out this year, not what they talked about. The Order 1886 was obviously set for this year but was delayed to early 2015. Bloodborne was announced for spring 2015, but that is obviously subject to change. No, it's not a great lineup but Microsoft's isn't much better, both were shown…
Not to be that guy, but every exclusive game (not trailer) they showed was set for a release this year: LittleBigPlanet 3 and Entwined. They also had Drive Club releasing this year. Yeah, 2015 was a big running theme throughout the conference, but it was with everyone. All Microsoft had to show for this year was a…
I have never been Xbox fan but at least their hear (wallet) seemed in the right place. Getting Platinum for Scalebound was a big win for me and the Phantom Dust remake really makes me want to hunt down the original.
It's definitely a game that's greater than the sum of its parts. Outside of the soundtrack and excellent localization, nothing ever raises itself above average, but it somehow comes together in an incredibly effective way.
Just finished Drakengard 3. A bad game totally worth playing and probably cements Taro Yoko as one of my favorites. Doesn't touch Nier with a 10-foot pole but some great direction nonetheless.
Xenogears is a struggle, that game is so damn long and the second disc just falls apart, though those were budget things.
There was a recent interview with Taro Yoko where he talked about how his reason for having only psychopaths as main characters is because he feels video games are so caught up with killing as the primary objective that it sort of scares him, so he creates the kind of characters who would do that sort of thing.…
I'm nearing the ending of Drakengard 3, a technically bad game that I can't help but profess to liking. Hopefully it's more than just Nier love talking, but I keep wanting to play through the repetitive levels just to hear the characters talk to each other and see what crazy thing might happen next. Another (mostly)…
I hope he comes back for the Godzilla sequel, given that and Monsters he seems to have a style that wouldn't lend itself incredibly well to a Star Wars movie.
