Pennsylvanian here. My crazy kkkousin thinks he’s going to be employed in a coal mine by this time next year making $70k a year with union benefits.

There was an article on “60 Minutes” last Sunday about “a billionaire who was bringing jobs back to a depressed part of Ohio”,and they make you think they’re referring to Trump, but it was this Chinese guy who owns Fuyao Glass. He bought an old plant owned by GM (I think it was Lordstown) and turned it into a place…
If it’s anything like Brexit, they’ll turn around and deny ever having believed those things, and say it was really all about some other, probably intangible policy (like ‘change’ or ‘taking back control’) and the stuff about jailing Hillary (or whatever other lie) was all just noise and really it’s you elitist types…
This is where I landed post-election. So many of the things he claimed he wanted to do are at best complicated logistical nightmares and at worst just straight up illegal. For example: your average power utility started transitioning away from coal 25 - 30 years ago. Their equipment, their business model and their…
Thank you!!! I was wondering the same thing, especially on manufacturing jobs. All the excuses about Herr Drumpf speaking to the working class when ALL of his products are made overseas?! Up is down and down is up.
I don’t think they will, though. There has been some interesting research done on people who find authoritarian leaders appealing, and I think for all of their loud noises and hateful rhetoric, these are mostly pretty passive, weak people who will only act when they feel some strongman leader has given them permission…
His little speech about rolling back oil & gar regulations to create “tens of millions of jobs.” That shit was hilarious.
As someone who has a lot of access to Trump supporters, they simply do not care. They don’t care that he’s been lying to them constantly for months, promising things that are, as you said, almost uniformly impossible to deliver, and that his policies completely lack detail depth, and nuance. They Do. Not. Care. They…
When coal doesn’t return, they’ll blame Obama (despite it being on way out for years and simply uneconomical).
The thought of all those rabid, vicious assholes turning on him en masse makes me kinda giddy.
Except that allegedly she aspires to get into the House of Lords. Girl, we need you in the Senate/House! But, we can’t handle sexy, attractive, intelligent women in positions of power. So maybe she gave up on the States. I’ve given up on us, too.
You’re right, it should be the minimum standard. However, lots of people, myself included, didn’t get the opportunity to grow up with the minimum standard. My life would have been vastly improved it either of my parents gave as much care and consideration about my wellbeing as Angelina does for her brood. So hell yeah…
Considering that Brad’s own people admitted he put his hands on Maddox (asserting he DEFINITELY didn’t hit the kid in the face, which is super reassuring) it seems just as likely that Brad’s been escalating verbal abuse at the kids and Jolie, Maddox decided to stand up for his mom, and Pitt did what drunken abusive…
((hugs)) right there with you. I stepped between my parents having a physical fight once, as a teen. My dad held me down and burned me with his cigarette and spit in my face. Then my mother made excuses for him. I couldn’t move out of that house fast enough.
Once you’re legally allowed to buy booze, “temper tantrums” are off the table, especially in front of your kids. If Brad, an adult man in his 50s, was having temper tantrums, then no one else was “ruling the roost” because big adult babies being indulged to the point of having tantrums are the ones ruling everyone…
thank you for your perspective. that makes sense too.
do you think that maybe this belies a pattern of abuse? like brad abusing angelina? like i feel like maddox sticking up for his mom might be the result of seeing this go on for a long time and finally having enough. but i don’t have any experience in this, and of course this is all speculation.
You can’t be super supportive of equal treatment of women while married to a man? Hrm, I learn something new every day...
Jesus, this took a dark turn really quickly. TMZ is pretty...enthusiastic in their story-telling, but that is more-or-less what I suspect happened - with Maddox stepping in to defend his mother. He’s almost an adult now and therefore is growing into more of a legitimate threat for his father. That’s something that…
My step-father never got more angry than when I would step up to defend my Mom, so this rang true for me. I don’t think he ever would have hit her, but he nearly hit me on a few occasions when I’d tell him to stop talking to her that way. So this all rings super true to me.
