It’s possible nobody in the plane could afford to miss the flight. Some for work reasons like this doctor, some for personally critical things like a wedding or funeral that are time sensitive, and some simply because they (like most Americans) get barely any vacation time and losing a day, even for $800, simply isn’t

Because united is the airline from hell. Every time I’ve flown with them (maybe 10 flights) they are significantly delayed, or lose luggage, etc etc etc. They’re a shit airline and they treat people like shit too.

This is O’Hare, not some backwater regional airport. It almost certainly was not the last flight. Last *United* flight, maybe. Not the last flight. They could have flown their crew on another airline or chartered a jet, or just fucking driven them there since Chicago to Louisville is 4-5 hours. They didn’t want to

You’re still self-centered :D

It doesn’t even matter that he had patients. I mean, of course it does, but HE PAID FOR HIS SEAT. It didn’t matter if he was heading home to perform surgery or sit in his Laz-E-Boy for six hours watching Game Show Network. He was not acting up or breaking the rules of the airline or the law in any way. I cannot

“People have a right not to be annoyed while they’re paying money to watch a film.”

I feel better that you know I think you are an asshole, as a lot of people obviously do now.

Did you or did you not say that a deaf person should not have needed accommodations because you find it “annoying?” Oh let me quote what you said, “People who don’t want to spend upwards of twenty dollars (if you’re in a major city like LA, or New York, it can be much more) on a film experience that is hindered by

Why do people accept that? I mean, why am I paying to reserve a ticket if you can just boot me at any time?

Reasonable? ha! Everyone here thinks you’re a bag of dicks so maybe you should consider what you say makes you a bag of dicks.

Agreed. I’m a lawyer and I would say YES they did.

Yes, but you can also fault the airlines for getting law enforcement involved in the first place.

Because this is America in 2017. We lent the airlines billions of dollars to help them stay in business after September 11th, most of which has never been paid back, and this is how they treat paying customers now.

Welcome to the wonderful practice of Overbooking

I would guess it’s probably in the fine print of your ticket that they can do this.

That’s a good question. I’m trying to think, I probably would’ve taken the $800 (or even the $400!) plus hotel too, but only if it were money and not credit to the airline, as I do not fly very often.

As a lawyer, I say yes they did.

I imagine United just opened itself up to a lawsuit.

That’s how I understood it too. An employee of the airline who apparently thought they were more important than paying customers and didn’t want to be inconvenienced. The guy had a really good reason to keep that flight, as a doctor it’s extremely important for him to be able to see his patients as planned. You’d

Well, the employee said, “I want that.” And United Airlines asked, “Are you a 10 year-old girl wearing leggings?” And when the employee said no, United decided to revoke the passenger’s ticket with extreme prejudice.
