It’s the headlight housing too, right? it just looks a bit... off

I’m actually going there on Friday! The exhibit only runs through Saturday I think.
As a material scientist this is endlessly cool, but I’m just wondering... WHY GOD, WHYYYY!!? Seems like way too much effort and expense all for blue paint on a car.
Show me the whole damn car! Jesus... can’t stand all these detail shots without an overarching establishing shot
Am I alone in thinking that large diameter wheels on a lifted vehicle meant to be “rugged” look silly?
The steering wheel options really shit the pot on the 996
Did the aftermarket ever come up with a replacement headlight? One that incorporated all the lights into a more traditional oval shape and filled the rest of the area with a panel you could paint body color?
Sounds like tumbling bag of rocks. Lame.
You’re right. Good catch
It is melting the titanium. The confluence of lasers provides very localized heat, melting the titanium powder as it scans over the surface. Basically melting the metal in a very localized line by line, layer by layer method, building vertically as it goes.
Understand it might be for dramatic effect to highlight certain things, but most of these photos are horribly underexposed! You can’t see shit. Boost some of those shadows man!
Someone familiar with “3-D” printing (correct term is additive manufacturing) titanium here...
Agree with you on the sentiment, but since these are leased they may be going straight back to BMW, in which case they’ll be sold as CPO’s just like all the other regular ole i3's. Might not be much of a deal to be had. Though the market would be flooded, so that could help.
Vouching for the 91 Accord. Greatest car ever built. Wonderful greenhouse, low dash and sills. Plenty of get up for a small car. Took all the abuse I could throw at it.
The legend coupe is my ultimate 90's cream dream. Buddies dad had one, I drooled over it. Looks so good in red! Finding a clean one now would be next to impossible. I wonder how much they would run...
Yea I just can’t imagine how basically a 40-50 year old vehicle can cost that much to remanufacture
Agree... worst idea ever. Well, second only to naming your company GAC or Trumpski, Trumpchi, Trumphole, whatever. Which sounds like some weird sex act in the vein of a blumpkin.
Searched autotrader for first gen Cooper S models. There’s decent ones out there for 5 grand our less. Even saw a tuned and modded one that’s only a lift and some tires away from rallycross ready. hmmm
Is it bad I sort of want to put a mild lift and some all-terrains on one of these? No AWD is sort of a bummer though. Too bad the Countryman is so huge now.
So we all know there’s a difference between Turkmenistan and Turkey right?
