THIS. I am uncomfortable when someone says a proposal was a complete surprise. Um, that’s lifelong commitment and should have been discussed and decided together. The proposal itself can be a surprise but the actual question should have been discussed thoroughly beforehand. That is what partners do.

I moved across the country two years ago (west to east) and just bought a new house because I love it so much. If you want to do it, do it! Best decision I have made and I love my new home state. :) Happy travels!
