I was working at a store in L.A. years ago when some dude walked in wearing a shirt with “Polanski” written across it. I started to talk to him, noticed his shirt, looked at him with contempt and walked away. No one else would help him, and he stood looking absolutely bewildered and upset. I was too far away to hear

I agree. I can’t imagine his shock and grief to lose his daughter that way.My grandpa was healthy as a horse, but had a massive heart attack a month after my grandma passed.

I was in a super long line at the grocery store once when a guy insisted on paying for the woman’s cart in front of us. I didn’t hear what happened, if her card didn’t go through, or if she was arguing about something. But it made my day, as I’m sure you made the day of the guy you helped.

Oh my friends and I have already discussed how to celebrate when he dies. We decided to meet up in NYC, because we think they will have the best impromptu parades and street parties. I’m a half-a-Sangria-with-dinner drinker, but I am gonna seriously shut my office down for a few days.

I know, especially when you see the way FDR reacted to the same diagnosis. He built a world class polio rehab center that treated kids for free, and spent his career trying to get rid of systemic injustice. Mitch was actually treated at FDR’s center, and somehow walked away from that experience deciding to dedicate

This was a kind, empathetic and useful post. Good kinja-ing

It’s by Harvey Berin

Oh man, isn’t Nashville the one where he had epic fights with the studio and all sorts of crazy shit happened like actors walking off sets and disappearing ? And Altman had to just rewrite/ask for improv on the fly?

“Kansas City”! He is an absolute genius and it was amazing seeing him work.

I worked on a move with Robert Altman, who has directed some amazing, award winning performances. I was a just a PA, but he was so kind to me, and to everyone, especially the actors, because he feels like everyone is more creative and competent if they’re happy.

I worked at a BBQ place that switched to on,y doing carry out  on Sundays because the churchy crowd didn’t tip, abused the staff and monopolized tables for hours

Angela, are you being held captive by an AI? Comment “Fuck Skyrim” if you need us to send help

Just watched Forster in El Camino, and he was fantastic as always. RIP

I wonder how many behind the scene staffers left and/or had their careers derailed because of him

Yes, can you imagine what it was like to be raised by this asshole? I hope her mom has her in deep therapy and limits contact with her fucked up monster of a father.

An older friend of mine told me he always votes against  the incumbent judges at election time, bc he thinks the longer they’re in power, the more corrupt they are. I’ve started doing the same.

I worked in a bar and saw fistfights erupt because some got jostled, or looked at someone’s girlfriend. I always think about what would have happened if all those idiots were carrying guns.

A friend of mine studied sports psychology twenty years ago and told me at the time that pretty much every major pro and college team used a sports psychologist to deal with motivation and performance issues. I just assumed they also helped with mental health too, but clearly I was wrong. I’m glad the NBA is finally

I’ve worked for some wealthy people, and most were the same way. I think it’s because someone else organizes their lives and cleans up their mistakes, so they just kinda blithely go through life not paying attention to any details
