What concerns? There are none. It is a shit system with zero drawbacks if we remove it.

That “P.S.” would have been a great alternative line for the teacher in Dazed and Confused.”

Trump is exactly the kind of person the Electoral College was meant to prevent.  The fact he’s currently running amok in the White House is all the proof anyone needs that this outdated relic needs to be abolished.

and that the blue represents 2/3 of our GDP.

The general election “victory” of Donald Trump gave the 2016 electors their strongest case ever to be faithless electors. The entire dang point of the electors is that they are supposed to keep an incompetent person from assuming office. Most of them utterly failed which either indicates
1 we should dramatically change

The only honest argument for the EC is you prefer the beliefs, values and priorities held by the minority and you want a better chance of being able to impose those on the majority. Every attempt at being “rational” in defense of the EC is just transparently anti-democratic.

The people outside of those 146 counties continuously vote against the best interest of the country. We can’t move forward because Gomer in Mississippi doesn’t think that people deserve equal rights or that women are people. So, fuck ‘em. For ignorant, war-mongering, racist spendthrifts.

They should just change the rule so that if you lose the popular vote but win the electoral college, you get a Participation Trophy and a lifetime pass to Chuck E Cheese

Won’t somebody please think of the Buckeyes??????

Nothing has made me more sure of my opinion than reading that - it was so full of bad logic and red herrings and other obvious bullshit that even if I hadn’t thought about the

There are two reasons why people are against moving to a popular vote.

The Electoral College is stupid. It created “special states,” i.e., swing states. I don’t want these special states deciding our elections. The only people who want the Electoral College are Republicans who know that they can’t win elections if we only depend on the popular vote. Candidates who lose the popular vote

It’s amazing how they think that educated, successful taxpayers in New York and California are somehow more vulgar than ignorant, white supremacist Nazis in the meth labs of fly over country.

Because clearly land area and cows should elect our leader as opposed to actual people.

Not just stupid but evil. They hate democracy and they hate American’s voices being heard.

“But without the electoral college, my dipshit empty state will be treated as not important!”
