Yeah, NPR’s web-only content frequently lacks the quality control of their normal output. I kind of suspect that it’s a large part of why they eliminated the comment section.

For our part, we actually switched our dog from regular dog food to a mixture of brown rice and ground beef after she’d been diagnosed with cancer and stopped eating the dog food. Ever since then, she’s been healthier and with a lot more energy. She’s also outlived the prognosis by a couple of years and counting.
Not only NO but HELL NO! If you want a vegetarian dog you should instead get different pet.
As I mentioned in the article, dogs are omnivores.
I live in a vegetarian / vegan haven. We even have multiple alterna pet stores that sell vegetarian dog and cat food to those who feel driven to feed their pets a diet their evolutionary history has not prepared them for (and yes, I get it that with specific health issues, a dog might need to be vegetarian for health…
If you need to force your personal beliefs on animals (that have been eating meat for thousands of years) do the pets of the world a favor and keep on walking when you pass the pet store.
“No” - Dogs everywhere.
Dumbass hipsters trying to push their shit onto their pets. At least this isnt as bad as the new wave of jackasses who wont get their dogs fixed because they claim its healthier despite mountains of evidence to the contrary.
This and “you get to do whatever you want because you don’t have kids” are those worst things a parent can say to a non-parent friend. Just because I don’t have children doesn’t mean I don’t have responsibilities — whether familial or professional. Even though I don’t have kids, I can’t just drop everything and do…
if Clinton were president, NK would probably still be very close to getting missile-borne nukes
I despise Pence but, like you, I don’t see him getting us involved in a nuclear war because his feelings are tender.
Implying that the screed-writer’s “argument” has any basis in fact or actual science, and positing that opinions formed from this type of flawed material have an equal footing in a debate with opinions formed from actual facts, is both a false equivalency and a fundamental mistake.
Just because there can be two sides to something doesn’t automatically make both those sides valid or equal in facts or morality. Spouting evodevo pseudoscientific eugenics doesn’t entitle anyone to respect for that opinion just beause it was worded politely.
The Google screed-writer’s intentions are different because they are built from widely discredited pseudoscience, and demanding that they be given equal weight with “women are as capable as men” is ludicrous. The debate he wants was already had, and lost, and its losers refuse to admit that or educate themselves.
Blowing the whistle on discriminatory and oppressive practices doesn’t necessarily involve company-wide screeds.
Wow. You called that asshole out!!!
Entire article seconded. :) All vegetables are best roasted in olive oil and sea salt. Except radishes—those are best sauteed with onions and chicken broth. Now I’m hungry. :D
There are a lot of “correct” ways to cook vegetables but—though I’m not a huge fan of culinary presciptivism—I’m…
Am I the only one paranoid enough not to use Facebook?
