I have a strange relationship with hugging. I love hugging my loved ones... but get really uncomfortable when anyone else tries to hug me - specifically acquaintances or strangers. It’s too familiar.

Also, by getting up, it allows the people in the middle/window seat some extra space, to gather their stuff, get organized, etc.

Carry ons are a big part of the problem (boarding and exiting). I’ve been travelling by plane for over 40 years now and the as the amount of s&*t people carry goes up the process for getting on and off gets slower and uglier.
