You must have infinite reserves of patience to go through that. I volunteer at my city’s animal shelter and can’t even get a cat to look at the camera for half a second while I take its Petfinder profile picture and find it mentally exhausting by about cat 5.

I volunteer at my city’s animal shelter and the answer is probably that this cat was either recently abandoned or (most likely) the person who brought it in was the owner and was just too embarassed to admit it. Happens a lot.
