A sliding door is necessary for the driver’s door because we often have to open it while sitting next to a mailbox. Can’t do that if it swings out. Also, some carriers like to drive the current LLVs with the door open in the summer since there is no AC. I haven’t heard if the new vehicle will have AC.

I am a mail carrier and I have to admit that the first time I saw one of the Ford Transit vans driving around I immediately thought that it would be a perfect mail truck. Hopefully, with front- or all- wheel drive instead f the rear wheel drive found on the current mail trucks. Oh...and air- conditioning, please :)
