I’ve always felt like the guys working in comic in the 70s and 80s never get enough credit because they weren’t the first through the door like the original Marvel bullpen and they weren’t as hip as the British Invasion guys, they were the nerds stuck inbetween who advanced the art form quietly and with little fanfare.

There’s that weird aspect to NXT where, for the most part the PC guy are stuck on the Florida shows working their character out for like 6-8 months whereas the indie singings and TV talent do the national tours and a lot of times because NXT has such a localized audience the talent from the florida stuff ends up more

A more goth gimmick sans paint might give him a little more meat as a character which, as a black superstar, he’s gonna need otherwise he risks an Apollo Crews or alternatively Roddy Strong situation

Also, I am hoping they debut Rush as a partner for VD with some variant on his Blackheart gimmick from CZW for the DRTTC and they run through a few of the “generic white guys who kid hard” teams

I think Clark is about 6 months away from being in the title scene. He’s at a major disadvantage because he didn’t get a ton of time to build up name cache on the indies after being the only guy that cared about wrestling on his season of TE. NXT is great but anytime they sign a big name it kind of upends everything.

Started at the last set of tapings. Clark licked Black’s face when Black was in his meditation pose.

To be fair, Smiling Black Guy has always been Swann’s vibe.

Dude Dream’s next feud a LeVay Satanist and is going hot fire. Clark’s got the body and just enough the old man may may actually like him.

I think a variant of nostalgia is part of it, but also there’s a huge difference in the perception of the material. As Evan points out, the sheer ubiquitous of comic based media has exploded, so kids are consuming that media in a different landscape then I did and I’m only 27. The sheer amount of stuff is bound to

because the Del Toro ones are shite adaptations of one of the most complete universes in all of comics?

Holy crap that part about fandom stanning for high profile fans is the entire online wrestling community and Meltzer...fuck

Maybe Simone...?

I swear if they stop doing Awful Squad because of this I’m gonna be pissed. Nick already ruined that final ep. Car Boys, which was a great piece of art, with this shit, let me have my McEllroy PUBG chaos

Now playing

Everyone should listen to Jamie Denbo’s turn as a Anne Frank on PFT’s Dead Author’s Podcast

I have so much respect for her being like the one non-comedy scene based actor on Reno 911.

Nostalgia is poison.

Dude a lot of people were ready to hate it when Jones got cast. That’s not a fair shake.

I just disagree with you. I think yeah there were a lot of problem but I think there was a TON of cool stuff too.

I think Jones portrayed a man in search of an identity very well Danny’s arc is one about finding yourself and I think he did that very well.

Does Cage get hate for it’s pacing problems? Does JJ get lambasted for the repetitive escapes of Killgrave? What about Daredevil for its mishandling of the books most iconic modern moment?
