Apple tried making a car, it failed. Dyson tried, and failed. Many other startups have tried as well, and they've either been struggling to bring a vehicle to market for years, or they folded. Just goes to show how amazing it is that Tesla managed to bring any vehicle to market at all. 

Funny that they would include cork as an interior material. Mazda originally started as the Toyo Cogyu cork company.

Google is your friend. Mazda is not coming out with a variable compression engine, they’re coming out with a compression-ignition engine. Nissan/Infinity already came out with a variable compression engine. Mazda will be coming out with Skyactiv-X later in 2019. They're targeting markets with more stringent emissions

My pet theory is that they're going to simply license FreeValve from that Koenigsegg guy. Look it up. And of course being Mazda, they'll figure out some weird way to make it better.
