Black is boring (IMO).  It generally looks fine, but it almost never looks interesting.

Yeah when beige was the new color for the Miata it seemed so ridiculous, until you realize that color was probably intended for the CX-5, and the Miata just got it for ‘free’.

The NC had a great colour called Spirited Green:

Mazda’s color palette has been pretty depressing.

You said it! The colors that the new Miata offers are shameful. Especially then they have offered great colors like BRG, Orange and Mariner Blue.

I want to be able to order a new Miata in a non-corporate Mazda color! Give me a solid red, yellow, mariner blue, etc... I would happily pay $1,500 to not be forced to buy white, black, beige. Mazda’s soul red metallic is fine but as the only pretty color, it’s on everything.

I mean they are just joining all the other major automakers, who more or less stopped offering anything but black, grey, other grey, other other grey, white, and maybe red.  When MOST customer seem to me “ok” buying those colors, why not just offer just that. I mean you look at traffic it’s ALL just a sea of black,

Exotic cars used to be so special - now they pump them out by the thousands. I can count on one hand the times I saw a Lambo / Ferrari back in the 80s (including location, color, model). (specifically Black Countach in 85, Red Diablo in 89, a Ferrari 328 doing donuts in 87, a Black Lotus Esprit passing going up a ski

I wonder how old this data is, because nobody should be paying above sticker price for either the F-150 or Mach-E since there are so many on dealer lots right now.

I’ve never understood the weird thing people seem to have against Consider Phlebas; I loved that book, snatching it off the shelves when it first came out, totally excited that this cool new author everyone was talking about had revealed himself as being into science fiction. For years, I thought it would be a great

I’d just start with Consider Phlebas. It’s basically a series of gigantic action set-pieces strung together.

Of all the Culture books, I think Use of Weapons is maybe the most impossible to film.

To be honest, after The Naked Sun, the robot books don’t do much for me. Most of Asimov’s later works in both robots and Foundation just don’t appeal to me, and linking the two did not help. (Nor did the incredibly obvious authorial insert in the later Foundation books, where he gets to repeatedly fuck an incredibly

God Emperor is not a ‘great’ book, tho. It’s... something, but it’s not great.

God Emperor is totally doable with modern special effects.

Even though my comment made the list I guess I misunderstood that it was more about car purchases than wrenching.

So it’s an actual truck—meant for getting stuff done by hauling a lot of stuff—I love it. Such a welcome sight compared to those overbearing crew-cab sedans with the exposed trunks that now pass for “trucks”.

I’m set on Miata RF as my next leave-it-out-side daily driver. I’m not remotely interested in any of those updates, to be honest. What I really want is some color choice. I can’t believe how boring the color choices are, and that’s why I haven’t bought one yet, I can’t decide which one I’d feel okay settling with. And

The NC Miata is fine. Despite the claims of NA/NB owners the NC is just slightly heavier than the NB - the 2005 NB was 2,447 lbs, and the 2006 NC was 2,474 lbs, and with more power, better brakes, more rigid, safer, etc.

You can’t just blame GM. BMW has non functioning turn signals to this day.
