One thing people often miss when discussing carbon vs metallics from a durability and strength perspective is the difference of how the materials react to “out of plane” impacts and specifically point loads.

Ok going into this I’ll just say the favorite car I’ve ever owned was my old B7 RS4... I drove it to 120k miles when I could no longer stomach the maintenance and repair costs and switched to an e92 M3. It was the perfect ROAD car IMO; it had this high quality, well sprung, heavily damped trait to the suspension that…
Why is AWD required? I don’t know why did you post “A performance wagon with awd is relatively more reasonable than a lifted lifeless sedan”?
A performance wagon with AWD? Prior to the E63S wagon (that came out only 2 years ago) and is $125k+ how many of those exist in the USA?
F10 was bad, I’ll give you that but it was one series. Media took the demeanor of that car is extrapolated it to every BMW model in that generation which just wasn’t true (outside the F10) if you actually drove em. Problem is most people didn’t and it was an easy narrative to latch onto for enthusiasts/media hacks.
“I have watched an entire youtube playlist of reviews on this car in addition to many car mag articles and I can now proclaim conclusively that this car is TERRIBLE despite the fact that the closest I’ve ever been to one is in traffic.”
1) I said top of their classes, which they are just are. You could argue the Cayenne or Macan are better in this or that, but the x5m./x3m run it damn close. I get that this isn’t the car for everyone but that doesn’t make them bad. Just because *I* would never buy a S-class doesn’t make it a bad car.
Oh look another insufferable 1990-2000's BMW owner has an opinion on new cars! HOW NOVEL!?
They should just graciously accept pay cuts & benefit losses because GM decided to put a boot to their necks? Talk about a god damn race to the bottom.
I don’t see it like that at all and from what I’ve read the UAW made some big concessions to keep GM afloat in the last contract go around.
BMW, Mercedes, Nissan seem to be doing just fine building cars in the USA. GM just doesn’t want to deal with the UAW. Has nothing to do with smokescreens they’re throwing up about profitability, switch to electric cars, automation etc. The goal here to shutter plants in NE and build new ones in the SW right to work…
This is GM posturing in an effort to move production into right-to-work states in the southwest to further weaken the UAW. Their statement promising to build new US plants but not say the location they will be built at tells you everything you need to know.
The best part about this car (and the previous x5m) is that is it makes all the 26 year olds who watch way too much motortrend on youtube just cling that much harder to their tired and abused clichés waxing poetic about “feel” and “involvement”.
This car represents the absolute sea change between how sports cars used to be designed and how they are being designed today.
Alfa Content? Are people aware that current there are MANY new Giulia Quadrifoglios up for sale being advertised at $20+k off? And also quite a few used ones in the low $40's with under 20,000 miles.
All Trump saw was four guys bowing to him.
I’m not sure it’s true they got talent above what would be available in their original draft spot.
I don’t think the Steelers are in as bad a shape some are making them out to be. Losing to Tom Brady & Russell Wilson led teams doesn’t tell you much about them going forward, and a lot of teams would be in the same position facing that schedule. Sure the steelers swapped a player picked at #11 last year for a pick…
“chances are you’re going to actually bring along a mirrorless and get an actual zoom”
