The counterpoint to this argument is that Mayweather doesn’t seem like the type of guy to lay down for an opponent. There will be talking heads saying that CM has a “puncher’s chance.” That will annoy Mayweather, who values his pride/reputation above everything but money, and he will be looking to embarrass McGregor.

My thoughts exactly. Should be able to fit a functional rifle action inside an aluminum softball bat, a few concussion grenades inside a soccer ball, a claymore in a football, 2 oz. of Semtex in a baseball, etc.

Michigan schools are pretty decent (Betsy DeVos’s massacre of the Detroit school system aside). That said, folks from Flint probably shouldn’t be throwing stones at Cleveland.

They visit in the regular season as well.

I’ll give the women’s game this, the level of sportsmanship (sportswomanship?) seems much higher than at the highest level of the men’s game. Player collapses due to heat in some of those games and the opponent walks up, steps on them, then flops over looking for a foul all while the fans shout racist epithets.

I don’t buy this argument. First, club strength is largely tied to revenue and Dortmund and Everton are on similar footing there. Second, Dortmund has CL football in their favor for now but Everton have the draw of the PL. I’m not sure whether those things cancel each other out. I think you could argue the playing in

Moshiri may not be an oil baron, but he is a billionaire and doesn’t seem shy about spending. There’s also considerable buzz about Usmanov, arguable the wealthiest owner in the PL selling his Arsenal share and buying into Everton instead due to not being able to buyout Kroenke. As for Lukaku, he’s not going anywhere

#99 was really pushing hard for that safety call despite his team having recovering the fumble, possessing it for 15-20 yards of runback, then fumbling into their opponent’s endzone. It’s that kind of game awareness that has made him so successful.

Agreed. The novelty off a 100 yard FG would wear off pretty quickly and the other team would just be trying to run the clock down to limit possessions.

Yeah. I posted that further up. I figure you’d get ~2.8 points-per-drive after accounting for drives lost to the clock, the occasional turnover, or kneeling to end the game/half. You can’t just look at points-per-drive, though. Total points is what wins games and I’m guessing teams would scheme in such a way to limit

I don’t view the organization as inept. Their GM, Jerry DiPoto has done, by most all accounts an excellent job in his 1+ year with the club. He inherited a team with little minor league talent and aging, high priced veterans some of whom (I’m looking at you, Robbie) can’t realistically be traded due to their salary. I

I thought of the same thing. There’s little that separates a Top 5 K and a Bottom 5 K in terms of value. You can work out 2-3 UDFA K/P and end up with 90-110% of what you’d get from drafting/signing the “best” K/P available.

ATL were pretty high-powered last year and I think they averaged just over 10 drives per game. I’m guessing you’d burn time before kicking the FG to give you defense a rest but you’d have no sustained drives so maybe you’d get to 14 or 15 possessions per game (maybe a few more if your D is really good). Point is, this

I think you could use DL/LB/S/CB for FG protection. Most of the edge blockers are already LB/S. You’d need a reliable LS and holder. I’m sure you could find a DT or four that could block well enough to protect a FG attempt and still contribute as a rotation DL. The big savings comes in not having to pay a QB.

Perhaps. I think you’d have to burn some time. You can’t have your defense spend the whole game on the field. There would be some interesting game management strategies for sure. Atlanta led the league with 3.06 points/drive last year with a historically good offense. I guess you could be around that with the super

One point that came up in our conversation, though was that having that K would mean that you wouldn’t have to spend any money on offensive players. You’d need a long-snapper, a holder (probably the punter), and some guys that can block on a FG attempt (those could probably be repurposed defensive guys). You could,

If the super kicker is kicking a FG on every possession then those are the only points you’ll score. 21 ppg makes you a bottom third offense (would’ve been 22nd in scoring offense this year). Would you want your team to spend the first overall pick on a guy that basically guarantees that you’ll have a below-average

But both teams will be in the same neighborhood as Everton in terms of revenue this year. Also, don’t sell Everton’s reputation on the continent short. They get a nice boost from being in the PL and they’re known as a club with a great history. If we’re going head to head with Dortmund for a non-German/non-UK player

I don’t think that the evidence supports this narrative. First, the gap between Everton ant 8th-12th is massive. Larger than the gap between Everton and 4th-6th. Second, you would’ve said the same about City a decade ago. Things change. Money drives success in soccer. Yes, there is a gap in talent and reputation to

I disagree. Rodwell had loads of potential, but he was never good at any point. Yes, he suffered quite a few injuries but staying healthy is a player characteristic.
