As an official old guy I have to disagree. I believe the Miura SV was the best looking car ever made. Countach always seemed like a bit of a caricature to me. They are still really cool. I saw one on the road in south Austin 3 or 4 years ago people were going crazy trying to drive and take pictures of it at the same

I think there was some gravel added to lot M last year but I walked through there once and I don’t think it extended to the actual “campsites”. It was mainly on the access lanes. 2015 levels of rain make it really exciting to try and get out of but it’s on a hillside so I don’t think it would ever flood.

I called about an RV spot on the straight before 2016 and I remember the price was well over $10,000. I heard they added a few spots for this year. $8000 is not that bad if you have a group. With parking and tickets I paid nearly a thousand a pop for 3 tickets this year. I just don’t know 7 other people willing to

I spit a beverage all over myself when I read that line.

Old story. Maybe early 80s. I lived in a small Texas town a little more than 70 miles from Houston and going to a junior college. One Saturday night I ran into a girl I that I barely knew in high school at a bad party. She talked me into going to a party that a friend of hers was having in Houston. It was a really

I grew up (and remain) a Longhorn fan but I went to A&M because they gave me a scholarship. Amazing piece of hand flying concentration. Hookem!

I spent a lot of time at that track in my teens and early 20s. Saw Dale Earnhardt crash in turn 3 during his rookie season. Watched Richard Petty and Buddy Baker bump drafting for laps at a time during the Texas 500. Had a friend who worked for the track so I had almost unlimited access. Went to a party at AJ Foyt’s

I wanted one of these. No matter how I configured it the total was well over 40K. I ended up with a GTI SE manual for a little under 27K. No regrets so far after 4 months.

I had a white MK1 that had 77,000 miles when I bought it. I drove the crap out of that thing for another 50,000 or so. My wife (then girlfriend) blew it up on her way to work. Broken rod. Paid $3200 for it and sold it for $1000 with a destroyed engine. It was fun to drive and felt fast even though it really wasn’t.

New VW Alltrack. 25k AWD for a nice driving semi-fun vehicle. Cue the haters that haven’t driven one.

There’s a dealer in south Austin that I have bought a truck and a Jeep from in the last couple of years. They always have a few Hellcats and 392 Challengers in the showroom. They look great and I’ve seriously considered buying one. Probably won’t because I just traded the truck on a GTI because I got tired of parking

If you were in the market for a car like this would you buy this one?

I had one of these. An orange 73. Fun car but had a ton of weight on the front and a solid rear axle. Didn’t handle like a Miata.

In his defense there probably aren’t many of these still around.

I can’t believe I got up early in Sunday morning to watch this. Okay to be honest I just stayed up all night. But the race was pretty much over after the first lap. Glad to see Bottas get his first win. Sochi is a pretty track but boring as hell. And can McClaren just dump Honda right now? They are getting worse over

Absolutely! Why do we have to keep seeing this guy?

I care. Recently bought one of these for my son and generally I love the car. But the door panels and lack of back seat vents seem needlessly cheap to me. I’d gladly pay the difference for a more GTI like interior. I’m not really a hatch guy and everything else being the same I would prefer the GLI. But it’s not.

Bought a 2017 GLI for my 17 year old son in December. Paid $22,500 with DSG. I like the car. No it’s not as nice as a GTI but with the same level of equipment you’d need an Autobahn GLI at least $32,000. I just noticed a (relatively) local dealer with a red manual GLI for $21,225. Thinking about buying that one

This is a good thing. The previous generation engines were too loud. You had to wear earplugs. The tutbo-hybrid cars sound like a Roomba. There needs to be something in the middle.

VW GLI. These can be had for under $25,000 with the DSG and under $24K with the manual. This is a truly roomy and fun to drive car with surprising performance. Decent enough inside for the price and is shockingly fun. I bought one in December for my son and I borrow it as much as I can.
