For pretty much all of Tesla’s existence the thing that limits their annual sales isn’t demand, it was initially production capacity and for years since its been battery supply. That’s the main reason their battery backup systems haven’t really gone anywhere, they can make a lot more revenue off the same battery

I honestly don’t know why Tesla has ignored that whole segment this long. They could have easily sold the USPS a fleet of electric vans. And since their whole skateboard is swappable they could just take the clownshoe shaped Model X body off and swap on a Van body.... instead of focusing on things like having it be

I agree. There’s a lot of low-hanging fruit that could be served by relatively low-range, Chevy Bolt type vehicles. A postal van based on the Bolt would probably be more than sufficient for the low mileage that postal vehicles travel.

Wish I could give more stars. I think there is always going to be a market for the simple reliable body on frame 4x4. Whether it’s a pickup or suv.

I only see 19 MPG in the summer, if I’m driving like a grandpa on the highway. In winter (cold weather, snow tires, winter gas, extra idling, etc.), it’s usually good for 15 MPG.

People want simple rugged reliable trucks, that’s why the 4runner and older LX/GX and many other off road capable are on fire all year. Overlanding has increased greatly.

Exactly. Look what they did with the Pathfinder...

Yeah, that’s my concern as well: they’ll bring back the Xterra but they’ll completely miss why the truck was so beloved. We’ll get some weird high-roofed Maxima wagon with an extra inch of ground clearance and 20+” wheels.

I don’t trust Nissan to bring back the Xterra in proper form. I trust them to do something wrong and unholy and bring this thing back and call it an Xterra instead.

I have a 2015 Xterra pro-4x, auto, and its great! I dont care about the interior - it goes into the back country and is reliable but yes the gas mileage sucks. Its not a DD, imo, but its excellent at doing what its made for.

Nissan already killed it, you don’t need to plead with them to kill it twice.

I had a ‘13 Xterra Pro4x (with manual!) and it was a terrific vehicle.  The interior was made of melted Fisher Price toys, but well put together.  The worst part was the fuel economy.

Yeah I'm sure random internet commenter knows more about how safe this is vs. a company that's been developing this tech for 16 years.

+1 on keeping the roof black. That looks good. The yellow is awesome. I’m convinced bright colours keep other inattentive drivers from pulling out in front of you. Something I became convinced of driving a really bright red car.

Okay

I’m really enjoying your articles detailing everything you are doing to your Leaf. The color is quite distinct! The wrap on the interior trim really pops.

I have several problems with your thesis. Mainly approaches like this are creating the income equality issues plaguing the nation.

1. You propose raising the tax based on inflation numbers. Inflation relates to the price of goods, not income. There is a serious problem in this nation where inflation is greatly

It’s a Shilling article, so...yes?
