In NAS Lemoore, there is actually two parts to the base, Main Side and Op side and they are separated by about 5 miles of farmland. If they went through the Main gate at main side, they would have had to exit through another gate, drive five miles to Op side, where there is a third gate. That seems very improbable.

Those stabilizers on an F-18 always angle down upon shutdown, with the lower angle facing the rear of the aircraft. If the car collided from the rear direction of the aircraft, it would’ve struck the car somewhere about where the bottom of the windshield meets the rest of the vehicle.

MC will probably just call for a bird strike inspection and get it flying again before noon tomorrow.

Having worked security at this very gate, I can personally attest to that. I still remember times where I was staring off in space while on guard duty, listening to a dry, hot wind, as it caused a small piece of metal to make a clinking sound against a nearby light pole.

That picture of NAS Lemoore, is NOT NAS Lemoore, just FYI
