I was a cabbie in the early 1970s. No GPS, no Google maps or Wayz. You had to know the City like the back of your hand. Passing the test for a hack license meant knowing everything, as there was no Internet or study guides. But you knew your job and the City and there was a professional pride in your job that's not

I had a 1979 RX-7 and I agree that it was one of the best small sports car ever. Quick for the time, tail happy all the time and just a blast. Keep the oil changed every 3,000 miles religiously and it will go forever.

I had a 1999 base Boxster for 4 years. Great car, if you can afford the maintenance. Had a local mechanic do everything and it still cost me nearly $40,000 all told. Traded it in and got 6 grand, but not worth the aggravation, even though it was a sweet car to drive.

Have you ever driven one? I was a cab driver back in the day of the checker and it was the most uncomfortable car I ever drove. Steering wheel in your chest, poor leg room and the seat was a plank with some mild padding on it. Great for the passenger, but all the cabbies hated it.
