The answer to this is clearly 4 liter, preferably of the Cherokee variety. Also, totally doable in a first gen Cummins, they’re mechanically timed, do your maintenance and keep the truck clean and I think it’ll run until the heat death of our universe

Having beat the religion out of my old RX-8, I can confirm that it is a rally beast. Easily the most controllable car I’ve ever driven, it would handle anything I or anyone else could give it. 10/10 snow, dirt, gravel, and airborne machine.

It’s cool that Hanna Zellers has a ride in this series! I used to work under her dad in a dealership chain, and I had the opportunity to  race carts against her at a company event. She’s definitely got skill, and I’m excited that someone I know has a chance to be in the big time. She’s a nice girl, nothing but love

Hey David, I love this story, it reminds me of how tough my little fleet of Jeeps are, and how they bring out the best in everything. And as for those pesky problems you’re having, I might have some tips. If you’re having a temperature issue, make sure both fan shrouds exist in their rightful spots on the cooling

ELON-CHAN WILL CUSTOM BUILD ME A GUNDAM THAT CAN TAKE ME TO MARS

The original Jeep Gladiator.

Counterpoint: if you own a RX-8 you get NA but with lag. If you own a Cherokee with a 4.0L, you get reverse lag.

My RX-8. First rear drive car I owned, first sports car, and did I ever drive the piss out of it. I truly learned how to drive in northern Indiana winters (Blizzaks are amazing), I learned what good weight distribution actually feels like (I worked at a MB dealer as a tech, I had a lot of time to compare), I learned

Where does Tesla/Elon Musk get all this money? I’m legitimately confused, I don’t think anything he does makes a profit. I’m ready to learn!

[EDIT] I messed up when I said the intake was entirely camless, as pointed out in the responses, and I have no clue how or if I can edit that post. So, rather than letting false info be spread by me because I’m an idiot, I’m going to post a screenshot here so that the operation of the MultiAir system is known. Sorry

You are correct, and I was in fact not entirely accurate in my statement. I boogered it up while doing my toilet commenting, and I’ll go edit my post down some for accuracy, and I’ll stick a picture of the description of operation in there for clarity

Over here in the land of FCA, the Multiair engines no longer have an intake cam, instead the intake valves are actuated by oil pressure from the hydraulic “brick”. It allows for theoretically infinite intake valve timing, so there’s that.

David, what I think you should do is pull the V8 out of the SJ Cherokee, and get a 98 or newer 4.0 to swap in. You’ll make more power (~190 at the crank), good torque (~225 at the crank), it’ll be bulletproof, and you’ll have modern fuel injection so you won’t have to really worry about environmental factors.

I appreciate how this has just turned into Shift Knob/Handle porn. Here’s my contribution (not my car, pulled from google)

I too get no love while driving any of my families’ Jeeps. Whether it’s my lifted army green 96 Cherokee Up Country, my brother’s 98 Fire Red Cherokee Sport, or my mom’s 02 Metallic Red Grand Cherokee Sport, there’s almost never a Jeep wave for me, or my family. I only get waves because I try to wave when I get looked

Maybe people just need to be more honest with themselves about what they like, why they like it, and what the reason is for owning it. I won’t ever fault a person for driving something, no matter how much I dislike it, if they’re honest about why they like it or why they have it.

Here’s mine next to a really clean FD. Wasn’t planned, just went to Bdubs for lunch and had a nice surprise. My car is pretty rough now tho, and while it’s one of my dream cars, I’ve grown tired of constantly dealing with it. It’s up for grabs if anyone wants a small project. Motor only has 23k on it if I remember

I posit that 6 gears is fine, make the 1-4 nice and close, 5 a touch longer, and 6 can be made to be just over lugging the motor at 60 for ultra economy (provided the car has enough power to handle ultra low rpm cruising)

It’s probably more than that at this point. My XJ has a lot of speed holes. And a shorter, louder exhaust. That’s gotta be worth a pound, plus it’s faster cuz it’s louder😂😂

I’ll be entirely honest, I’ve never ran into something I can drag around with my XJ at the shop, and it’ll pull past 100 mph, but yeah, it’s got it’s limits. Also, if anyone else has gotten an XJ over 100, you’re a brave soul.
