The second I start posting cars I wouldn’t buy myself is the second that I stop writing these things. I do actually drive an S-class that I bought non-running, every day. I haven’t gone broke and I’m still in possession of all my organs. It’s cheap and it’s reliable, and I’m not made of magic.

I lived a story somewhat like this. When I had my firebird, the 3rd/4th gear went out. I resolved to rebuild the transmission myself in lieu of taking it to a reputable shop. I had no garage at the time, so the first step was to get a donor trans from a junkyard and haul it home and work on that instead.

If you have a chance to get this basically brand new and don’t drive it until the head gasket explodes, then you should be charged with whatever crime they can slap you with.

While I applaud your efforts in rebuilding the trans...this sometimes happens. If you started the story with “I had a terrible shudder when going 40mph+”, most people would advise you that the car is misfiring. BUT...since you worked on the trans, that’s where your head was, and why you couldn’t diagnose it.

The catch, though, is you have to put your mom’s soul into the car in order to drive it
