...and let’s not forget about those assists!

True story: This line helped me get into college. It cracked me up so much that I went the next day to tell my AP US History teacher about it, sparking a conversation and really strong relationship. When it came time to get rec letters for college, he cited this line as an example of my “taking history with me into my

Gish Gallop is the term you’re looking for.

Homer’s intellectual insights are spot on, seemingly absurd at first but then followed up with a shrug and a “huh I guess he’s right.”

I always enjoyed this graphic seen on TV during “Homer the Heretic”:

In the late ‘80's in Louisiana, a very messy primary gave us a general that pit Edwin Edwards, a man with redeeming qualities but a huge crook, against David Duke, Grand Abomination of the Klu Klux Klan.

I’m sympathetic to the goal but I hate this kind of ‘heighten the contradictions’ strategy with the right. It never works; every time some line is crossed the goal posts keep getting pushed back rather than admit that certain shit is just completely unacceptable or intolerable. George W Bush should have completely

Agree. With Miss Universe, no one paid attention to the “miss house keeping” part of the comment which I think was as bad as the weight issue.

I’m a Hillary-hating far left liberal and I totally agree with this assessment. imo, the best way to combat HRC’s shittiness is to pay attention to the down-ballot races.

If the NFL doesn’t want teams posting instant highlights then maybe they should stop putting the Browns on their schedules.

She’s filthy, but he’s filth. HRC is a compromise at best, but informed consent is better than willful ignorance. I’d much rather sit through some 16 month unraveling of whatever over-complicated “-gate” she cooks up for some stupid and transparently political reason than see the headlines Trump generates once he’s

I think it’s a generational thing. I’m not sure there was a politician alive in the time before Facebook (and I’m reasonably sure there wasn’t a successful politician) who would see Clinton’s machinations as anything other than par for the course.

Best hope is Trump’s ongoing meltdown somehow gives the Dems the House.
So they have a 2 year window to do something meaningful before the chamber is encased back in amber with the usual mid-term pushback.

I wouldn’t trust either to park my car considering neither has been behind the wheel of a car for over 30 years.

She’s completely phony, she’s a liar, she seemingly chooses deception and needless shenanigans when the truth would be both the easier and better option.

I try to avoid hyperbolic thinking/words, because it is so pervasive in our culture (from dumb internet headlines to dim sports commentary to every sentence Jon Gruden has ever said on TV).

But she feels like a major step backwards from Obama to me. Obama, while certainly not perfect, rose above the vast majority of bullshit and all the phony scandals and, to me, put in a truly noble effort.

What about those of us who are concerned about her overly-hawkish behavior? Her lifelong connections to special interests and how she has kept the revolving door between lobbyist and the government open? How about her debatable policies on trade and the environment?
