Right - for me it’s a toss up. The message and timing of the last line is just so spectacular, “and juuust as they are about to catch me, the twin... turbos... kick... in....” Absolutely iconic. In one you get the car and the girl, the other is the answer to every nightmare you have. The marketing crew for Nissan…
The 2004 season is the stuff of legends.
Even The Doctor gets sick sometimes. Hope he has a quick and full recovery.
I’m all for making Someone’s appearance is no-one’s business but their own. the baseline and to leave it at that.
A MEN! Plus they never ask jack black where he gets his confidence from!
This. I’m a government employee, and I’m astounded at the defensive reactions I get from the older, more conservative crowd when I ask basic questions like, how are we going to pay for this, where did this statistic come from, what does success look like?
Anyone who has a problem with her standing up for herself can fuck right off.
“Not to be rude but, how are you even coping with the fact that I find you physically repulsive? Because like, honestly? I’m really struggling with it.”
The main point being that for a customer service rep to compare this situation to that of a home addition is rude and absurd. The bigger question is were they shooting from the hip or is that actually part of their training? I’m guessing most likely the latter.
Lol.
It is the ABSOLUTE height of 2020-ness that I can listen to Firing Line episodes while putting together a Baldwin unit for my students and be all, “you know what, I fucking miss William Buckley right now. What. The. Fuck.”
At the end of the episode, there’s a moment where Buckley (at least verbally, and likely…
First, thanks for posting the poem by Sonia Sanchez. But the near operatic version of it over the visually terrifying attack on the entire Greenwood District was absolutely stunning and moving, a gorgeous directorial flourish. The scene with Montrose watching unfold at the park fountain again what has haunted him a…
Right. I don’t think I have to have an ID at all times right?... would seem weird to be required to have ID just to walk down the street.
What did the cop say when you questioned his request for your license?
I’m a convicted jaywalker. I didn’t get searched, though. (I’m a white woman and was in my mid-20s at the time).
Oh, that took exactly two exchanges to get to the overt racism, Akata. I live in NYC. You know what stop-and-frisk accomplished? Fuckall. The violent crime rate was already going down before Obengraffenfuhrer Guiliani and Reichsmarshall Bratton doubled down on their broken windows model of social control/racist…
Yeah as a white guy who’s had long hair for a long time I’ve been harassed by the cops for real stupid shit on multiple occasions.
It's always stupid to take a polygraph. They're pseudoscience, and they'll only be used against you. You have nothing to gain by sitting for a polygraph.
Just a PSA for anyone tempted to respond to “TooManyAkata” - that’s the latest display name for our pal Mr. Irrelevant Link Fucker. Responding to him is just wasting your time. Dismiss, ignore, sip a nice drink in memory of his stupidity that you now no longer have to see.
I remember the pearl clutching around Prince but not the others. And “Ballroom Blitz” is one of the first songs I loved as a kid (6 or 7 y.o.), while my parents hated it.
