Ehh, by the time the war was over the South was pretty much spent. The CSA was flat broke, and between Grant and Sherman, the armies of the Confederacy had nowhere to go and no more moves left. While it’s possible that they would have continued some kind of guerilla war, they really had nothing left to fight with. The

Maybe some oddsmaker’s already chimed in somewhere on this, but I have to think UCF vs Georgia or Alabama next week for a theoretical title would be somewhere in the range of +14 and +18 respectively. But hey, whatever made-up participation trophy makes them feel better, and I think almost everyone is in favor of a

I grew up in a small midwestern town, right wing Christian area, mainstream religious family. We were instilled with a lot of prejudice, including against homosexuals (deviants, recruiting you to convert, choice) and I believed it. Even our teachers would use derogatory terms for homosexuals. Then I went to college

Its stuff like this that initially led me away from the Republican party. Who I can marry, whether or not I can smoke pot, ability to allow (or disallow) what my kids should watch on TV, etc. are all the “small government” GOP using BIG GUBMIT to do its bidding on behalf of the religious right. They’re all for limited

Ok but you have to know your comment came off as you being an asshole to hermaphrodites.

Saban by a mile. Belichick can’t stand the media, can’t stand that part of his job and knows he’s a great coach (so obviously has a big ego). But something tells me that in private, he’d enjoy laughing at Brady, laughing at the Boston sports fan, laughing at the absurdity that pro football has become. Saban can’t

Uh, this is shitty.

Well, I get what you’re saying, but 75K for a weekend is probably a lot of money for the team/school.

I really have to admire the balls conservatives have. To pass discriminatory laws and actually say they’re about “freedom.” It’s like the Nazi’s telling the Jews that they’re celebrating their culture.

I honestly feel like that IS him speaking up. He didn’t have to say what he said, he could have just shrugged and said no comment.

Fake Christians only have one use for a bible and that is to beat other people over the head with it.

“I just hate losing the three home games,” USM head coach Scott Berry said. “I’m sure it’s going to cost us for sure. That’s three gates and everything that goes into a game day in terms of revenue.”

“Don’t tread on my desire to tread on the rights of others”

It always strikes me funny that these laws are always framed as “restoring freedom”. What freedom? Your freedom to stick your nose into someone else’s business and tell them how to live their life? Because on the face of it you’re taking away freedom from a very specific group of people to get conservative Christians

“If it weren’t for Mississippi, Alabama would be last at everything.” - C. Barkley

Weird how these religious freedom laws only seem to protect a very conservative conception of religion.

Ump: Inside corner, strike three! You’re out!

“So Mr. Jeter, with our standard ticket price, multiplied by an expected season ticket holder base of ... let me see ... zero ... we can expect season ticket revenues of ... sorry, just let me grab my calculator ... zero dollars.”

God, let’s hope so.

I don’t think people are grasping the magnitude of this yet. AD’s and coaches are in a panic right now. They’ve been cooking their books for years to fool the NCAA, the FBI however is a whole different ball game. Instead of sanctions we’re talking jail time. Plus they have subpoena power.
