My response was to the poster above me, not the author of the article. It’s neither smug nor inaccurate since the religious references assume that single minded thinking are at play. Even they (OP) point out the differences in opinion of people in those groups.

It’s the false assumption that because a person belongs to a “class or group” they all hold the same beliefs. No group is a monolith yet many people treat them as such!
