It seems as though they paid her and provided insurance, from what I can tell, for at least 8 months when she wasn't producing anything for consumption. I read this book. It is creepy. I read a lot of horror and am disappointed by most of it, but parts of Breed filled me with dread. I also liked The Invitation, so I am pleased by this news
