These displays blew my mind in Japan. I understand the practical benefits but it’s so kitsch and obviously fake. They did this kind of thing (to a lesser degree) in the UK back in the ‘80s. Certainly a contributing factor to the not-quite-the-sameness of Japan. Love it.

I ‘hey’ my long-term partners. I like it. Written down it looks impersonal but in the moment it is intimate and conspiratorial. And it’s usual the gateway to an actual conversation. A post-coital icebreaker where you can talk about personal stuff, or ask if we really need to go with you to your mum’s place.

mayhaps he is referring to the light of the actual screen which may well be reflected in the assumably glossy surface of the strip.

Exactly my point. You don’t get to outlaw a product just because you don’t want kids to think they are cool. That’s why, although I think vaping is ridiculous I have to temper that with the fact that if it is safe (and people are respectful) then how is it different from wearing trousers too low?

sorry, i don’t get what you’re saying in that first line.

I agree. It’s a bogus argument, ‘let’s help the people who are underage smoking with another crutch/product’.

Can I ask is the pro-vaping stance really about supporting under-18s who are looking for a path for quitting?

Agreed, Nothing makes me understand a scenario or concept faster than an illustrated animation. I read and listen to a lot of history stuff but illustrations, not photography or video, just gives me clarity.

Yet Kiwi’s are forced to the useless Aussie Gizmodo site.

yeah, you won’t find youtube or netflix doing any of that tracking business.

I heard, maybe even read on Giz, that this is one massive scam and a perfect example of corruption in Russia.

Why isn’t it true? I never even see smokers anymore so vaping is more prevalent. And as for the smell, I don’t even see it as a health concern, it’s politeness. I agree smokers stink but vape-smoke make be want to vom (don’t know why).

I think his his response to you was perfectly in keeping with the inappropriateness of your comment.

I feel anime movies are poorly marketed in the west. I can only imagine it is the the small demographic but I visit Japanese sites and subscribe to anime services and still miss releases. I only new about The Boy and the Beast because I visited Japan and it was everywhere.

Taika turned up a design conference in Auckland and did the funniest powerpoint presentation about design, purposely bad. He really plays to his audience and you can tell he loves what he does and engaging with his audience.

I’m nostalgia-ing so hard now.

I can’t believe these were made with screen printing! Mind blown!

Can someone help me. I just read the first book and was left wondering why anyone read the others. Effectively nothing happened.

EXATLY!
