But you know as well as I do that when people disregard “race, sex, or any other consideration” they hire white men. That’s what that language means. That’s what you’ve absorbed, whether you want to admit it or not. That’s how you fully justify all white male cabinets, boards, workplaces. That’s how you justify sexism

That is a bullshit thinly veiled excuse for sexism.

You just learned this today? I’m sorry, but this proves a lot of points about why primaries or closed in some states.

I’m opposed to it but the thinking is that the primaries are really run by these independent entities (the state parties). It’s very different from the general. Each primary has different rules and after an entire primary season a party could technically select a candidate that was never on a ballot! So the thinking

Funny story: If you want to change the Dem primary to be open... Wait for it...

You actually have to care enough to register for the party you prefer and do it long enough ago that it isn’t a last-minute whim. I’m all for closed primaries. I don’t need outsider anarchists fucking up my choice for president.

So if someone wants to waste their vote on a republican and not on the candidate they actually want to win, go for it.

Idk, while I understand your feelings, and am also an independent (not American) voter, it kind of feels like when a deadbeat dad only sees his kid at Christmas then gets confused about why he doesn't have a say in where they go to college. Personally I feel like I don't take on the responsibility of being a party

They do, in the general election. You can vote for anyone there. But it doesn’t really make sense to let non-Dems who we can’t really count on to support the eventual nominee in the general, pick the nominee.

But...primaries are party processes. I don’t understand why the default assumption should be that non-party members participate in party-specific processes. I get that you want to just participate where you feel like it, but surely you understand why primaries are not always open to independents?

Counterpoint: Why should people who aren’t in the party and don’t identify with the party get to pick who the party runs as a candidate? Why should the preference of some non-member who doesn’t show up for the party in elections have the same weight as that of somebody who identified with the party strongly enough to

Why? Parties are made of volunteers, donors and local leaders working together to get their favorite candidates elected. Why should you, as an independent, have a say in who my party puts forward as our candidate?

Honestly I find it crazier than Independents think they can vote in party primaries. Do you all think we choose parties on our registrations just for funsies? What else is that process for if not to RSVP your spot for primaries and conventions?

Or with anyone who cares about the Supreme Court decisions of the next handful of generations...

I am just so happy and proud of New York voting for Hillary. I know many states have done it before, and many states will do it after, but I am just over the moon about this win. Because, it really does mean, that there is such a possibility that I will get to see a woman become president before I’m 30. I just wish my

Can all of these people who want a female president, just not this one please give me five viable alternatives with the public service and foreign policy experience of Hillary Clinton we can run in 2020?

I have reserved a slot next Friday at the Kattencafe Kopjes in Amsterdam. I have paid 3 Euros to sit in a delightful cafe, eat snacks, and pet kitties for 2 hours. I will be in Amsterdam all week, going to see the Dixie Chicks, riding bikes among the tulips, checking out the Van Gogh Museum...but it is the kitty

belonged to one woman, who was apparently rather full-figured.

Goddamn. Calling your governor out at a Starbucks is one thing, but this woman dares to give her email out in mother fucking YouTube comments. That is a bad bitch if there ever was one.

For the last time: HILLARY HAS THE FUCKING SECRET SERVICE. Her events are screened much more than any other candidate. And why would you get angry that she actually sat down with BLM and held a conversation with them? That makes no sense. So your issue doesn't even seem to be about the way they did it, it seems to be
