100%. Garland and Villeneuve definitely occupy the same space of my fandom. It’s so sad to see movies like Annihilation and Blade Runner 2049 not get the success they deserve.

FWIW, Richard Roeper seems to have seen the whole thing, and loved it, largely because of how well it all pays off https://chicago.suntimes.com/2020/3/3/21159678/devs-review-series-fx-hulu-nick-offerman-alex-garland
Doesn’t Hulu do this with a lot of their high profile exclusives anyway? I know The Handmaid’s Tale does.
I honestly kind of prefer it sometimes, in a water-cooler-television kind of show. It’s easier to talk about it with other people if everybody’s on the same page.
Here’s all I can find: “Both series will air exclusively on Hulu, and not on FX’s linear network, as part of a streaming deal between the two Disney-owned properties” https://tvline.com/2020/01/09/devs-series-premiere-date-season-1-fx-on-hulu/
So it sounds like it’s essentially a Hulu Exclusive, just branded as an FX…
I know this isn’t the most positive review, but I came away from it thinking this show actually sounds really interesting. Ex Machina and Annihilation were great, so I’ll definitely give it a shot.
What I don’t understand is this whole “FX on Hulu” exclusivity thing. If it’s only available on Hulu, and all Hulu…
I mean, they didn’t really trick you if you didn’t buy into it. So congrats!
Uh, Steam and Epic and Origin and every other game store is also free. The difference is that with Stadia, any games you purchase are completely inaccessible offline, and MORE EXPENSIVE than virtually every other platform. It’s an idiotic business model.
Watch it after you finish season 2. It’s a prequel, but it’s definitely not meant to be viewed before the original run of the series.
I’ll go another step further: why don’t they let you browse and grab bounties/make purchases from the phone app? It already lets you move things to and from your vault at any time. Why not put all the functionality of the Tower in a list-form you can access at any time?
If you haven’t seen it and want more Jon Peters craziness, I HIGHLY recommend “The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?” They go more in-depth about Peters, including a new interview with Kevin Smith. The whole bit in this story about Steven Seagal totally fits with his strange, tough-guy self-image.
The epilogues are pretty long, actually.
...what?
It was almost cancelled after the first six-episode season, but it was a huge hit after that. There’s a reason NBC kept it going even after Steve Carell left. The idea that it was an under-watched gem until after its run a la Arrested Development is sort of hilarious for those of us who are old enough to…
Yeah, but the PS3 floundered until it was way cheaper. $500 is definitely the max for the next generation.
I think Veidt definitely had something to do with the creation of “Cal.” This week’s Peteypedia entries include a document from Cal’s hospital record, which mentions they received his employment record from Pyramid Global Construction. Veidt owns Pyramid, so at the very least he helped falsify Cal’s record.
It’s most INFLUENTIAL game, not best. God of War is an infinitely better game than Fortnite, but Fortnite’s free-to-play/season pass model has had an enormous (and, IMO, negative) impact on a lot of games going forward.
Skyrim is great and enormously popular, but it’s essentially the best version of a formula that’s been done several times. Dark Souls did way more to influence the future of game design.
The autoplaying with sound is KILLING me. It’s happening on multiple Kinja sites, so it’s probably some new mandate from Kinja. It really does make me want to stop frequenting their sites.
I don’t really have any spooky stories to add, I just wanted to chime in and say I really enjoyed this article. There’s something about short, sort of aimless and unpredictable stories of the supernatural that just feel less manufactured than movies or novels. I really related to the rationale here, and the Morrow…
The problem is that, as soon as she says this, it’ll spur a bunch of clickbait headlines like “ELIZABETH WARREN ADMITS THAT SHE WANTS TO RAISE TAXES,” and a lot of people on the internet won’t bother to read past that.
Seconding this. I took multiple long breaks during Blood and Wine because I liked the feeling that there were more adventures out there. Such a phenomenal game.
