Agreed, there’s a car that doesn’t really stand out in any way (cars like the Journey) and then there’s a truly bad car (one that falls apart sooner than most others and leaves you stranded).

What sucks is that you have to use the USB port for Android Auto functionality and the Fruit equivalent and then you miss fast charging.

This is when the US govt needs to step in and make a universally accepted plug type, just like everything in your home.  Pay the winning designer, and allow everyone to adopt the design. 

Luckily there is already a standard in place with the SAE port. The issue is that people want to develop their own to capture long term customers. In fact the SAE J1772 standard was in the works since 2008 and built ground up to be improved in the future.  Anything people add now that is not based on a standard that…

Only good thing about the different electric standards are that simple plug adapters help with some of that. More advanced adapters could be made for differences in DC or AC or the voltage difference. One standard will eventually rule them all, like the VHS and Betamax wars.

I mean you can do up to 5A charging with a USB C port, so lets just make a plug that’s a huge array of those to charge with.
