Who says you can’t go home, of course!
Who says you can’t go home, of course!
Yep, no one in the history of Jezebel has ever had a tongue in cheek username referencing their gender. It’s not like the site you’re on this very moment references a biblical woman people think badly of.
The democrats had a problem with new blood for awhile there. A lot of their up and comers are still young senators/house members and as much as I loved Obama, I and many other democrats were hoping for someone more experienced. That, coupled with the reality that most Americans are fairly centrist and Hillary clearly…
I think it appealed to teenage boys in the 80s, the majority of which are now in their 40s and 50s and just based on our country’s makeup, the majority of which are probably working class or middle class.
I stand with you on this. Anyone who would play Springsteen over Bon Jovi on a long car ride is no friend of mine.
There we go.
Yes, you did and I’m not sure why you’re pretending otherwise.
i didn’t say anything about whether he should be a cop or not.
That’s bullshit and you know it. No police department is magically going to have a 100% closure rate on cases. Also, condescendingly pretending that believing in some religion means you can’t do your job doesn’t make you sound as smart as you think it does.
Social media has existed in various forms at least since the 90s. It largely doesn’t enact real change and it’s not a substitute for seeing actual people out in the world doing something.
Protesting makes a real difference to me. As an itty bitty gay, the thing that gave me the courage to come out was the outrage surrounding the death of Tyler Clementi and the children who committed suicide in the following weeks. If I hadn’t seen the outrage of people across the country, I don’t know what I would…
There is also decades of case law that offensive/hateful speech is not allowed at school, even after hours at school sponsored events. It wouldn’t be a huge departure from current case law to say “religious use is allowed, but telling our students to go die at the place they’re supposed to feel safe is not”. You could…
I completely agree. This makes me sick to my stomach, like physically ill.
Schools frequently rent themselves out to organizations to help pay for themselves. Schools can’t rent themselves out and then not allow churches to participate because first amendment, so my guess is the school saw church and then immediately agreed, not realizing that holding the recreation and celebration of hate…
Protesting, shaming, etc. are excellent ways of dealing with hateful offensive speech and actions.
There are limits to free speech. Harassment, slander, and inciting violence all come to mind. An exhibit celebrating the murder of dozens of LGBT people toes the line as far as the first amendment goes, but probably wouldn’t had it been named the same as that of a local gay night club or depicted the deaths of local…
Can we also have a “This dumbass has to reply to every single troll they find” flag too?
Precisely. In my case, my family was eventually okay with me coming out, but a good part of it that made them feel better was me “looking like a girl.”
I agree! I know some people disagree, but I think it’s important that we don’t just win support for the LGBT people who pass, especially given that it is those who don’t pass who won us our rights.
No it isn’t. No one is so public that they have some moral obligation to risk their relationships with their family and friends for the public.
