Based on the screenshot I was pretty sure it wasn't this, but I was hoping:

Tim McGraw could get it.

Somewhere, in the back of my brain, I had a little, tiny bit of respect for Oprah. The whole anti-vax, The Secret, swallowing your words causes hypothyroidism, Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, etc stuff had eaten away at quite a bit of it. But I still had some.

I don't have any let now, though. Lohan is clearly in need of

He's not dancing to Beyonce, but this seems like a really good time to bring this video back!

One time a dude was like, "Wanna see my dick?" and I was like "Yes, please" and I stood there waiting. And he eventually walked away. I'm not quite sure what I would have done if he had whipped it out. Probably laughed and made a joke.

There is a whole line of literature about this actually—an offshoot of ecofeminism. If it interests you, look for work by Carol J. Adams. I'm actually kind of surprised at how may people here seem unfamiliar with this line of thinking. Or maybe they just disagree.

"But, whatever. Can somebody run a study that establish a relationship between vegetarianism and smugness?"

Jesus that's annoying. Yes, some vegetarians have a terrible habit of being superior and smug, but it absolutely does not compare to the asshole meat eaters (the meat eaters that are assholes that is) who think

Yes, it's hard not to be anxious and depressed when one thinks about the decline of rights for women, the melting polar ice caps, the fact that 50% of this country seems to be Marine Todd personified. *sigh*

Wow, first time ever commenting in the internet. First off I love me some jezebel but what's with the smugness against vegetarians on here?! Of course there are always outlier studies but who has the lowest rates of heart disease, diabetes, and several different types of cancer? Vegetarians!! Vegans are generally even

Vegetarians reported higher levels of impairment from disorders, chronic diseases, and "suffer significantly more often from anxiety/depression."

Instead of "pro-vaxxers" can we just be "normal people" or "rational everyday humans?" I don't want these anti-vax people to be given any more ideas that this bullshit is a two-sided "debate."

THANK. YOU.

You are absolutely right on. Mental health organizations and associations prefer the language have also (at least recently) preferred the language "died by suicide". Changing the way we frame it will help de-stigmatize it.

*giggles* She wants the vitamin D. *giggles* In her Vagina. *giggles*

I'm sure she doesn't have any trouble getting D when she wants it?

Psssst, kid. I had a cupcake for dinner. Because I'm an adult.

I see young people like Lorde and wish I could go back in time and convince my teen self to be confident. I'm in my 30s and still working on it.

With a little time and effort, this unfortunate image could have been unnoticeably fixed.

What if the sentiment is "I'm not gay, but I'd be willing to try if it were with her"? Because that's how I usually use the term "girl crush."

It's not my biggest pet peeve, but it's not misguided, either. "Girl crush" is basically the female version of "no homo." Because as great as it is that you like and admire another woman, at the end of the day you're adding a big old asterisk to it that says, "...but not in a GAY way."

Sam Harris did an excellent talk on this, and about morality, and about how religion doesn't actually enhance morality like people claim it does, but rather provides people with an excuse for behaviors that would otherwise violate what we would commonly decide is against a more generalized morality. I'm not going to
