I’d note that every Pokemon you used as an example is a Ghost type, so it’s sort of thematically appropriate for them to lean toward the whole haunted object/possession angle.
Speaking of grating JRPG music, when Ni no Kuni came out hearing the first few bars of the battle music over and over made me want to hurl myself from the nearest window. And it was written by Joe Freakin’ Hisaishi! The rest of the music was excellent, though.
I got this same feeling playing through the first Trails in the Sky. It really scratched an itch I didn’t realize I had.

As mentioned, you’ll need an Apple Pencil to interact with your display, and I don’t believe its pressure sensitivity applies in this mode (at least, it didn’t when I was testing it out with Affinity Photo).
