When someone says a luxury car is a gussied up version of its non-luxury namesake, a lot of the times, it makes sense. Other times it can be misleading.

I agree completely. I think they had a decent jump in interior quality with the V36 but this new generation seem to be less of an update.

Hmm, I was thinking about getting one of these. This update from Consumer Reports seems to indicate the the issue was resolved.

The whole center console is completely different between automatics and manuals. And those replacement parts are expensive. Personally I think that's a bit of an unreasonable request. I think the car was designed like that on purpose so your elbow is free when shifting.
