Creating Gilly is not her fault; that first sketch was funny. Bringing her back month after month is classic SNL mediocrity.

She's not awful at all! She's funny and brings a ton of energy to sketches in, yes, a familiar antic way. It's not her fault if the writing sucks or if Lorne has decided "screw satire, let's just be very nice to Hillary."
