Mcmillen was still apart of it when it was announced as an auto runner. Auto running isn’t a bad mechanic, most cases you are referring to suffer from bad level design , intentionally designed to appeal to a mass audience. The level design in smbf is on par with the original game, imo, but with streamlined mechanics.

I still think the ps3 xmb was the peak of game console ui's. Simple design, everything you would ever need to access contained to one page. Little to no advertising/news bullshit (I think it probably got worse with this later in the consoles life, but I could be wrong).

I don’t think that’s logistically possible. you can cut costs in so many ways on the components, but at the end of the day people need to get paid. I wouldn’t see it going lower than $199.

Phil Spencer definitely comes off as being a gut feeling type of a guy. Could be wrong, but all of the things he's spearheaded (while mostly positive) haven't really moved the needle in xbox's favor.

The ps3 version of the game actually loaded faster than ps4 before this patch. I speculate it was 100% an optimization issue, which they never took the time to address until they realized not even the ps5 ssd could handle how bad it was. 2 minutes to load the last of us is beyond crazy. That’s witcher 3/rdr2 territory.

Anyone who thinks this is cool is one bad day away from domestic abuse.
