Thats a good thing for an mmo. Its trying to hook in people for as long as it can to get that monthly sub cash, and making it so the game can run on a wide range of rigs makes that an easier feat to accomplish.

I beat it in 2 hours on my first playthrough. I guess that could just be me though. My opinion that quality is worth more than quantity still stands.
