His accountants.
So is it the game makers fault for including gambling systems, or the gambler addicts willing to spend thousands on nothing, who is to blame...both?
As a whale myself, this was a fun little read. I don’t know how much I’ve sunk into Genshin, but I have C6s of Venti, Klee, and Diluc, C5 Mona, C4 Ganyu, and a smattering of other 5 stars at varying constellations. The only game I ever calculated my spend for was Theater Days, and that came to over $30k. These days…
I’ve probably spent close to $10k in 6 years for DBZ Dokkan Battle. It’s the only gacha game I play, I can afford it, and it brings me joy to get the latest and greatest characters so I find the expense worth it (albeit a bit steep). I am aware these are digital assets that will one day disappear, but the game has…
My personal rule when spending money on games is “For every $1 I spend, am I getting 1 enjoyable hour of playtime?”
It’s hard to justify for games with shorter playtimes like Bayonetta, Ghostwire, or Deathloop. It’s much easier to justify for bigger games like Xenoblade, Cyberpunk, or Elden Ring, where my playtime…
What I’m hearing is you're illiterate 🤷♂️
But... but... my game waifu!
I’m in about the same boat. I did a bit of dolphining in this game, and then backed out again before I did anything too stupid. Still, I’ve gotten a ton of enjoyment out of this game, and the story/content updates continue to be substantial enough to make it feel worthwhile. This is just sorta where my gaming budget’s…
Working as intended.
What you’re actually saying is that you have no idea how gambling addiction and psychological manipulation work.
Honest question.. how much do you spend on a bar tab, or going out over the weekend, or streaming services?
I’ve probably spent around $800 on a game I’ve been playing for about 6 years now; it’s not great spending, but you’d hit similar numbers buying a coffee from a store every week, so it isn’t exactly shameful either.
That is because Activision has been in a slump due to all the controverseys. It was trading for more than 115 a share prior to the lawsuits.
Weirdly, Microsoft agreed to pay $95 a share, but Activision Blizzard stock is still only trading at $79.
I had 20 free wishes going into yesterday and I was about 20 wishes from hitting soft pity, so I went for it. I wanted Ganyu, but if I got an off-banner 5 star? Praying it’s Mona.
What a neat article and story!
Best shield in the game and now in real life.
