I think you’re seeing that because it’s referencing, at least some of, the criticisms calling the movie bad because it’s obviously aimed at kids.  The Gizmodo review literally says the movie isn’t made for anybody that “lived through” Mario’s 30 year history.

Yes obviously I meant since videogames became a big deal.  There were not a lot of videogame movies in the 1920s, I admit.

Yeah, but of all the movies you mentioned, only Sonic is any good. I think the point is that video games are hard to adapt into movies and we’re probably going to see a tidal wave of them now, regardless of whether or not they fit the medium.

now its for a younger generation. Get over it.

I know, right? I got the Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt NES for Christmas as a kid, I spent a year of college playing Mario Kart 64, and I’m excited to see this movie with my kids tomorrow because they can enjoy something I grew up with and then moved past. I’m expecting a colorful kids movie with a few nods to older

All these basement dwelling incels that got an N64 in the 90s freaking out about this film is the most telling thing. Mario didn’t grow up with us and now its for a younger generation. Get over it.

Yeah everyone I know who has seen it has raved about it, both for kids and for themselves.

This is hella melodramatic.  Videogame movies have always been a thing.  They did Uncharted recently.  The Resident Evil series.  Hitman.  Rampage.  The third Sonic is coming up.  I don’t understand the histrionics in this article.

“Great pitch, I love it, but one note: could you make it more conquerish and less commandish?”

The nerd press is going to stay mad that Nintendo decided that to not make a Mario movie for middle-aged nerds.

No, actually. The general consensus of movie critics and writers of articles like this is that the Mario movie is obviously terrible. Audiences are loving it, based on the box office numbers.

Tell me you didn’t read the article without telling me you didn’t read the article.

Those who would have gotten sick last year didn’t. They got exposed this year because mask wearing has waned.  So we're seeing more cases compared to last year, when we had an unusually small number of cases.

Yeah, I was at the pharmacy getting a refill when some old guy walked in right past me without a mask and asked if the had covid tests, which they didn’t.

I’m pretty sure I had a bout of RSV last month. Thought it was just worse than normal allergies, but everything I’m reading about RSV suggests it was the likely culprit (COVID test was negative). I just didn’t know about it at the time.

I was recently at the doctor for a routine physical. I overheard a woman tell the receptionist she was there for a covid test. The woman then proceeded to sit down next to me with her mask under her nose. I got up, moved across the room, and stood there for the rest of my wait as there were no available seats. I put

Aaaaaand this is why I still do my best to remember to wear a mask in public. Also why I get a little pissed when I see someone coughing, sneezing, etc. and not wearing a mask.

Now that masks are no longer required as they were last year, many people have stopped wearing them. This exposes them to germs and the virus. It is a good idea to wear masks on the subway and other crowded trains or buses

One of the G/O Media articles gave instructions on deleting Twitter but failed to mention what to do if the Twitter login (and e-mail) are the main things you use to login to Kinja lol.

I hope everyone that's been laid off in the last 10 months has enough in savings to weather the depression the Fed is pushing us into.
