Dune may be an interesting read, maybe even fun for some, and maybe it will turn out to be a classic. But it is anything but brilliant. You need halfway decent prose, at least intermittently, for that. Sorry, kid.

Interesting that Howard, to my eye at any rate, bears a more than passing resemblance to George Lucas. It's an entirely appropriate way to remember them both. Now if they would just go away…
