He said an entire team had been hired to help Trump’s campaign come up with policies, and this man, although a conservative, was also a moderate and joined hoping that he could keep things more even keeled than the batshittery that the campaign was spewing.

I disagree about the backlash. These are not people who know how to organize. They will be duped, but they will sit in their houses and wonder how in the world this could happen to them, that they were betrayed. Jeb Bush warned them they would not get what they wanted with Trump.
