I actually thought Jack was covering himself in terms of a prosecution down the road. He thought he was gathering evidence without a warrant, so wanted to clearly establish in front of witnesses that the suspect was giving up the evidence of his own free will. [note I'm not a lawyer or in law enforcement, so I don't

"Is Roscoe dead?
On Justified, unless you see a doctor pronounce death, a
character’s not dead. No. After the episode was so much fun and they
were so great, we decided to keep them both alive. Or at least have that
possibility, and we’ll see how next year unfolds."

Late to watch this episode - Didn't Coulson's Bus just get trojan horsed by the Clairvoyant?

Keri Russell in a hideous toupee

Donna - Thank You for these reviews!  First came across your writing when you were so ably bringing NewsRadio back around, and was excited to find that you were shepherding the discussion of Sports Night as well.  I was not disappointed - your insight and ability to capture the spirit of a show (especially these

Chuck?

"Jeremy is a total dick about not wanting to go to the club. He's
flat-out mean to Natalie about it, effectively calling her stupid and
shallow in front of all their friends, which is some pretty terrible
boyfriending on its own."

YES to what Erp said (Larry's making _understandable_ decisions, even though they're not sane/likeable decisions)

yes, this!

Chuck? (nothing)
Chuck? (birds chirping)
Cut Man?  Yes Dan?  That's still Dan, I'm Casey!

However Sorkin writes women, I cringe at how awful my side of the species looks, given the way Sorkin writes Jeremy's behavior in the next episodes as an example (I just can't keep myself from bingeing on the awesomeness, gotta have more than just 2 episodes a week!).

at this point splitting hairs, but I actually do think Sorkin was shooting for the 'f*ckin' idiot' target - Dan did out-&-out tell her "it was an idiotic plan, Dana, what did you think was gonna happen?!?"

So yes yes yes, we all hate Dana's Insane Dating Plan.  But after rewatching these episodes, it feels as if making the audience hate the IDP was Sorkin's whole _point_*.

Lana.
Lana!
LANA!
LAAAAANAAAAA!!!

"And if you think I'm just talking at you, you should ask around about me. I have absolutely no conscience about these things."

I'd never thought of it in this way, but you capture it perfectly:  Dana's "plan" is a self-sabotaging test-to-destruction.  (Why her subconscious decided she didn't want/wasn't worthy of a relationship with Casey is a whole different kettle of fish).

Hypothetical question for the class:  if they can make everything look this freaking gorgeous as a "bargain" show, imagine what they could do with a real big-time budget!

I was about to say that Fuller might be signalling that he's planning on presenting key canonical events differently when they come around… but then you said it better ("forced their own hand, deliberately")

re: transformation and re-creation - did anyone else catch the reference/callback to one's "becoming"?  When Will hallucinates the Angelmaker approaching him in the barn?  Dolarhyde (the Tooth Fairy) uses the phrase/concept in Red Dragon quite a bit

Used to be solidly in Cochran's corner (and still mostly am), but the smugness that Ghosts in Towers mentions did come out a bit too much for my taste tonight.  Especially smacking his lips at how delicious it would be to vote out Malcolm.  Also, I'd like to think tonewise he was trying for ironic/facetious (for
