I was traveling a lot and FINALLY got around to seeing the new IJ movie. I have to say I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it considering a lot of the general word of mouth. Much more in line with the original films. If I had to rank them:
Yeah, if I had a nickel for every time I read a YA novel with an old man narrating them...
Honestly, the only thing missing are the awesome bubblegum cards that would come with this release.
...and those ole paperbacks are fully fleshed out stories that first appeared in 70's Heavy Metal mag, complete with awesome Berni Wrightson and Frank Frazetta sketches...!
OTOH I can totally picture those titles on the covers of old ‘80s sci-fi paperbacks and that actually makes me excited for this, somewhat.
Do we build our tech with fingers?
Schrodinger’s DVDs.
what is this “dvd” you speak of?
D’oh! That’s less cool than it sounded.
It might just be a problem on my three year old computer, but embedded tweets like these seem to be a lot more resource intensive than they used to be, and these “First Reaction” articles always seem to pile on as many as they can, instead of just limiting it to four or five. It makes navigating these posts…

seriosly starting to doubt any creditably in gizmodo report when you did not even though is not a james gunn creation. This movie has been in development for 3 yrs. If James did anything to it is was minor notes at the tail end of editing. Either you guys are being ignorant or you are trying to mislead people.
I was going to say the same thing. This is definitely not a Gunn-era movie. I’m glad that it appears to be good, though. Seeing it for free in IMAX courtesy of Regal Unlimited this weekend (why Regal is giving out free IMAX promo tickets to this, I don’t know).
Yeah, I was thinking Linda might have been a little harsh. Yes, it’s a corporate product, so it is limited in how radical it can be, but the movie does wrestle with a lot of complicated questions and nuances. For someone used to academic texts on feminist theory, the movie might not feel very deep, but for a good chunk…
Thanks for the shoutout to the WGA/SAGAFTRA strikes. My wife is WGA and I’m SAGAFTRA so we’re very invested in the picket line. Anything you love in a movie or TV show (or a play for that matter) was written by someone and performed by someone. All we want is to not be shafted by executives who absolutely need $24M/yr…
