This has "money pit" written all over it and the 924 has yet to catch on as any sort of classic, on this side of the Atlantic anyhow

I do love the W116, as a kid a friend's Dad had one and I thought it was just the most special car, alas whenever he gave us lifts anywhere it was always in the family's other ride, a VW combie
I really like the E12 5 series, the design had a functional simplicity about it that subsequent 5-series have lost, someone should rescue this for the parts at least
OMG Charles Satchi would buy that for a huge pile of cash
It's Shepherds Bush BTW
This deal has money pit written all over it
Just noticed that it's also a Diesel
Minters sell for something around that on this side of the pond, and they're on this side of the pond
Given that they are Australian I guess we should just be grateful they haven't replaced with original 6.3 AMG Mercedes engine with a big local Ford or GM V8. Also I hate that they have chromed the hub-caps, they should be body colour
@AustinMiniMan: here's a link [carandclassic.co.uk] honestly if I had the time/space/money to do the restoration I'd buy it
I have a fantasy about owning one of these, 170 were made, including one for Princess Margaret (the hedonists Princess). There's one for sale her at the moment for £800 in need of complete restoration…
which is nice, as it will be parked there a lot because you won't actually be able to get in or out of it
OK it's good but I've seen similar on this side of the pond for less. White is a good color though, so maybe the crack-pip should remain stowed in that capacious luggage compartment
The fact that they will almost certainly sell the 2000 they plan to make is further proof, if any were needed, that rich people really are that stupid
to clarify, the term "cut-up" refers to somebody swerving in front of you, either from a slip-road or an inside lane
MY EYES HURT NOW
OK, it's great and I rate the value of Japanese classics BUT a 5dr version very similar to this in excellent condition (still had plastic protection on door cards) with 47K miles sold on Ebay.co.uk recently for £880. I know because I was bidding and gutted I missed out
A friend of mine has one of these in 70s orange. It's pretty good though not as good as this one. Anyway he'll be thrilled to think it could be worth anything approaching that sort of money!
can I just point out that we (as in guardian.co.uk) broke this story last Friday
FYI I live a block south of Old Street station #infrastructure
