Exactly. This sounds like WAY too big of a figure to be at the motor. The size of the output shaft would have to be unbelievable. Also, what gear set would take that kind of torque? Not one you’d want to put in a car.

I wonder if that torque is measured at the motor or the axles. If at the axles, what is the gear reduction? 11,500 lbs sounds like a lot, even for an electric motor. Modern diesels can produce a hell of a lot of torque at the axles too...

Plenty of European tail lights have optically separate lights and look fine. Jeep was lazy.

I like that the headlight turns off on the signalling side. Unless the signal light is mounted separately from the headlight, it’s often difficult to see unless the headlight is turned off. I’d prefer signal lights were just mounted separately, but this is a good second solution.

Of course, but why wouldn’t we just do better and also allow the brake lights to function too? Awareness is good. Fair warning is better. Let’s do better.

Seriously. I constantly tell people they have lights out. It’s like cops don’t even pull people over for it anymore. I guess not enough revenue?

And it’s a bad design. This jeep is just the latest iteration of it. Signal lights should be separate from brake lights and, ideally, amber.

That’s incorrect and in practice vehicles do and should use them when they are driving much slower than the speed limit, towing, or otherwise trying to be SAFE when there could potentially be a hazardous situation. Large trucks and buses are required to use them when driving over railroad tracks and everyone should

Me too. I always flash the brake lights while I’m engine braking on my bikes. Partially because I’m on a motorcycle and it never hurts to be a little more safe on a bike, but also because engine braking on a bike is way more effective than in a car.

No, but these cars aren’t manual so we don’t have to worry about that. Also engine braking is much more gradual. Even if you tried REALLY HARD you aren’t stopping as fast engine braking as if you slammed on the brakes. Further still, manual transmissions are in a shrinking fraction of the cars on the road. I know the

Not surprising. I haven’t seem many in the wild. I think people like the four-door wrangler better. Not really a huge surprise though. SUVs are the thing these days.

Keep in mind, although this is 300 lbs heavier than a regular mini, it’s still like 1,000lbs lighter than other electric vehicles.

They’re not. The point of multiple brake lights is visibility and redundancy. Relying on one high-mounted brake light while hazards are one has no redundancy. Killing one brake light for signalling has only one redundancy. Brake lights are essential to safe operation a vehicle and this design is not optimal. With how

It’s OK, Jalopnik. You can have it. For all you’ve given me, it’s only fair.

I just saw that!! I think they did!

Pretty sure that’s a lambo, dude.

What’s the white tank top budget like for a film like this?

Brian, eh. Talk about a “complicated legacy.

This is some straight up rich asshole behavior. When should you put your kids on your credit card? Never. Young people don’t need stellar credit when they are 18 years old because they aren’t buying anything that requires it. Getting them their own starter credit card or secured credit card when they are of age will

THIS! All of this talk about shitty adapters. Just get a better headunit! It’ll work WAY better!
