The rear quarter around the tire opening always looked werid to me. Like something was missing. Maybe a crease or something, but it always looked unfinished to me. Rest of the car was fine.

Holy fuck. Can’t believe the number of people commenting here that don’t want to tax excessive wealth. I’d bet real money none of you will pay anything to this tax. Stop defending rich people. They don’t care about you. Also they owe society at least a chunk of what they have because they benefit more from our system i

Yeah, but you’re german. You’re supposed to be better than that. What happened to the no-bullshit attitude you all are known for? Giant grills are vain, tacky bullshit. Make up some excuse like the car is meant to be understated and classy for the professional, not gaudy for the instagram likes. Give some engineeering

Despite the fact Earnhardt used a seat that was anything but safe and was notorious for loosening his seat belts during a race, NASCAR blamed Simpson seat belts for the death of NASCAR’s biggest star.

Oh shiiiiiittt. This guy can’t use this care to it’s “useless.” At least the guy above you said it wasn’t good for *him*. Just because you can’t use it, doesn’t make it useless. This car would more than handle my commute and likely would handle my weekend errands if I could charge while I’m in a store or getting some

Because not everyone lives in SoCal. Other people have weather like rain, snow, and cold. Even if someone did bike, still need a car for the inclement weather.

Also keep in mind both of these cars weigh MUCH less than the average porker electric vehicle. The mini is only about 3,000 lbs, which even for a gasser, is still pretty light these days. For the people that drive minis for their lighter weight, this is an electric option.

It’s 17 miles to my job and it’s 4 towns over. My previous job was less than 10 miles away and I lived in a suburban city. We also have enough space that most people would likely have chargers with off-street parking. Metropolitan areas, which are pretty common on the coasts, have things that are much closer together

Wouldn’t that technically be a *tri*cycle?

It’s also not a sedan and they can’t fit a massive battery like they can a model 3 or S. Admittedly, it’s not a great range, but it should be sufficient for lots of people.

Yay thanks for covering motorcycle stuff!!!

So they are going to stick some aluminum duct tape to the carpet as a fix? Hopefully this only applies to carpet that is behind the b-pillar upholstery and not visible in the passenger compartment. Visible aluminum tape would be absolutely tacky inside of an $80,000 truck or whatever they go for.

Psshhwhat? Mini stopped selling manuals? Do they hate selling cars?

I’ll give you that. The halogen lights on my R6 are pretty great and there is only one bulb for the low beams. Makes me wonder why I feel great with on headlight on a motorcycle, but two in a car is wholly insufficient. Thanks, OEMs.

IIHS measures glare and dings manufacturers for excessive glare. Not all of those LED lights you see score all that well. Actually most don’t i think.

GOOD!! I like how IIHS rates headlights and they take the glare to oncoming traffic into consideration when rating them. Also, having a car with HID and another with incandescent lights, the incandescent are just plain old unsafe. Maybe incandescent was fine when that’s all we had, but now we can affordably do better

Yeah! It’s like $80! Even if you use it once and give it away it’s still worth it.

I’m sure you could get out of there for well under $1000 if you do most of the prep for them. It costs thousands of dollars to get your car painted well. Even creeping up on $1000 is a small price to pay for preserving a supposedly rare jeep.

Right. It’s so outrageously likely to fail it has to be for the clicks.

Yeah that won’t create a story though. When your job is writing stories, sometimes taking the long way around is what you need to do. I’m with you though. I’d either ship it or tow it and not risk frostbite while stranded in the rockies.
