Glad someone else noticed this. Ridiculous how fast pickups are these days. I guess that’s what happens when they aren’t held to the same fuel economy standards as cars, even though they are mostly used as cars.

The silverado is almost 20% more expensive in that case. 6k is a significant savings if you ask me. Lowers your loan payment from around $700/mo to closer to $590. That could be gas for the month or groceries. Hell, that’s like getting free internet and streaming services. People need to start thinkingabout this stuff…
Yeah, and where are all of these people that can drop 50K on a truck coming from? That is A LOT of money to spend on a vehicle. I make damn good money and wouldn’t spend that much on a vehicle unless I either had a really good down payment or a newer trade in. I doubt many people have 20K for a down payment....
Yeah, but that’s assuming the person wanting a truck wants a truck and not a traveling living room. Consumers will bitch, but it’s their fault trucks are the way they are. Manufacturers offer the equipment at the price people will pay. If no one buys them at the price they are, they won’t sell them at the price they…
Because while in 1991 this would have been fast, now it’s just... there. I had a car with about 180hp that weighed about as much as your Accord with a manual. It wasn’t slow, but it wasn’t fast either. I’d get out accelerated by pickup trucks and SUVs. If I can help it, I’m not driving a car that is even slower than…
Meh. We lost the manual option when they decided to only offer it with the slow engine anyway. Yeah, sure, I want a four-door sedan with 187hp. The automatic would have to be truly awful to make that compromise. You can get 250hp out of the turbo if you put 93 in it. I’ll take the extra power and torque, thank you.
Holy shit that’s going to be an expensive car. Guess manufacturers are going to have to start making cars last longer because people won’t be able to buy new ones as often. (Ha! They won’t. “Can I interest you in a 120-month loan?)
Sounds like what they’re doing with tolls in CT. Every time the gas tax goes up we’re told it’s for roads. Now we’re being told we need tolls to pay for roads, yet the gas tax remains. Where did all of that money go? The roads certainly didn’t get better!
Right? I have pretty low premiums and $10 is still not much compared to my total.
Ha! That’s the only way my comments are going to end up on that site. For some reason, whenever I post, it disappears. Even the less ranty ones. While I’m sure they have multiple articles bemoaning the echo chamber that social media is, Jez is absolutely an echo chamber.
Aw shit. The comments on this one are going to be good. Who’s going to stick their foot in their mouth first? Come on, guys. Don’t let me down.
More importantly, how did mittens (that’s its name until I’m corrected) like the car? Acceptable? Probably unacceptable because cats.
No, I got the point. It’s dick swinging. It’s just a stupid point. Cars like this unfortunately end up being fashion accessories rather than the tools they should be. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be any fashion aspect to them, but when that’s all there is, then we get this bullshit. An SUV that people buy to brag…
“Twitter is part of everyday business for many executives today,” Chairman Robyn Denholm said in an interview in Sydney on Wednesday. “From my perspective, he uses it wisely.”
Why is it acceptable to wear gym shorts and sneakers in a factory? That is in no way safe in a manufacturing environment.
But what about “visibility” and “practicality?” Need mah SUV to commute to work! /s
Yeah. You go ahead and bareback those HIV+ people. Good luck, buddy.
Also it’s facing the wrong way.
Cool, now make it lighter and handle better. Power is easy. 2/3 of this power would be more than enough.
While the author focused on the charging issue, I don’t like the idea of using my phone for everything, including access to my most expensive asset and sole mode of transportation, because smartphones are fragile, complicated devices that can break or malfunction for any number of reasons. I’d rather rely on the solid…
